Global Family Day:

The Global Family Day has great importance in promoting the values of togetherness, consciousness, and oneness among families around the globe. It remembers us about how important our family ties are and how we are all bound by a common humanity across cultures and national boundaries. By marking Global Family Day groups as well as individuals make clear that they will spread knowledge, sympathy, and partnership through not only their homes but also beyond it.

History:

The origins of the event, Global Family Day, go back to 1997 when the United Nations General Assembly announced that it was the International Decade for a Culture of Peace and Non-violence for Children. Global Family Day had been put in place by 1999 as an international day dedicated to peace building initiatives which has continued to gain importance year after year.

Importance of the day:

This day is widely known annually on January 1st, coinciding with the beginning of the new year. By deciding on this date, Global Family Day targets to start the year with a focus at the values of family and harmony, placing a fine tone for the months in advance. Global Family Day, which is also known as World Peace Day, is more than a mere ceremonial event. It is a clarion call for harmony and mutual understanding in a world that is often plagued by conflicts and wars. To mark this day, people are often urged to sensitize the global public on some of the pressing issues that face humanity globally as well as advocate peace and develop global sense of belonging.

Global Family Day’s motto sums up its core values of unity, tranquility, and know-how. There is no universally agreed upon motto, but common themes include phrases like “One World, One Family,” “Building a Better World Together,” or “Strengthening Bonds, Building Peace.” Although different in words, all these mottos lay emphasis on the fact that we are a global family bound by diversity where we strive to make the world more peaceful and harmonious for future generations.
