A. Drugs for Cough:

  1. Pharyngeal demulcents: Lozenges, Syrups, Glycerine, Liquorice
  2. Expectorants (Mucokinetics):
    • Secretion enhancers: Pottasium citrate, Pottasium iodide, Guaiphenesin, Tolu balsam, Vasaka, Ammonium chloride
    • Mucolytics: Bromhexine, Ambroxol, Acetyl cysteine, Carbocisteine
  3. Antitussives (Cough centre suppressants):
    • Opioids: Codeine, Ethylmorphine, Pholcodine
    • Nonopioids: Noscapine, Dextromethorphan, Chlophedianol
    • Antihistamines: Chlorpheniramine, Diphenhydramie, Promethazine
    • Pulmonary receptor desensitizer: Prenoxdiazine
  4. Adjuvant antitussives (Bronchodilators): Salbutamol, Terbutaline

B. Drugs for Bronchial Asthma:

  1. Bronchodilators:
    • β2 Symppathomimetics: Salbutamol, Terbutaline, Bambuterol, Salmeterol, Formoterol
    • Methylxanthines: Theophylline, Aminophylline Choline theophyllinate, Hydroxyethyl theophylline, Doxophylline
    • Anticholinergics: Ipratropium Bromide, Tiotropium Bromide
  2. Leukotriene antagonists: Montelukast, Zafirlukast
  3. Mast cell stabilizers: Sod. cromoglycate, Ketotifen
  4. Corticosteroids:
    • Systemic: Hydrocortisone, Prednisolone, Other glucocorticoids
    • Inhalational: Beclomethasone dipropionate, Budesonide, Fluticasone propionate, Flunisolide, Ciclesonide
  5. Anti-IgE antibody: Omalizumab
